Sandy Point Garden and Greenhouse

I didn’t put much thought into the garden this year.  I didn’t try anything new.  It’s not even very well organized.  But, I should be getting a shit load of potatoes and that will be great.

This year I mainly just planted the things we eat a lot of and do really well.  With the exception of some asparagus and a handful of stalks of corn, I mainly planted potatoes (lots!), broccoli, cabbage, and green beans at the garden.

On the right in the greenhouse are potatoes that I planted in February.  I should be able to harvest them in a couple of weeks I’m guessing.  Next to them are some carrots I planted around the same time.  I pulled one last week and it was about an inch long.  I never knew it was so freakin’ hard to grow carrots.  I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.  The tomatoes are going nuts and I plan to add a few more plants in a couple of weeks.

Thank goodness for the greenhouse or with our cold wet spring/summer I wouldn’t be as far along as I am.  I plan on planting green beans in there later in the summer and hopefully have a fall crop of them.

Next year I will try canning…
