Obama sends very clear threats to Egypt bringing up the peace treaty (which if violated would stop the $1.2 billion in aid from the US) and closing with ‘if they don’t protect our embassies, I think that’s going to be a real big problem.’

Republicans don’t seem to understand who the intended audience is for this message or why the President made it on television. So if you’re one of these people: these threats were made behind closed doors through the State Dept and this is showing the Egyptian government that we’re serious.

The President is telling the American public that Egypt is not our ally, they’re not protecting our embassy and we’re watching what they do- if they don’t shape up we’re going to have a “real big problem”. We just backed up the threats the State Department is making. Language is very important in situations like this and I guarantee you that Egypt took notice. Especially with the news reports that Obama sent 2 warships their way.
